1) What's
your name and role in the band?
Brock - Singer
2) What
made you want to be in a Metal band, write Metal music?
I saw Metallica in 1989 in Alaska and knew I wanted
to be in a band after that.
3) Your
band is from Alaska, How does coming from a place like that play in the music
you still write today?
Isolation
has bred some unique characters and I think Alaskans are pretty different from
the rest of the states. I like that uniqueness of where we are from. It's a
very dark place in the winter and a very lit place in the summer. All those
changes also come into the mental attitude – people are just really into the
elements up there. I believe it plays a pretty big role in our musical identity.
4) How does being on a huge metal label like
Roadrunner compare to where you are now with Spinefarm?
I'm not sure the exact differences but we are
extremely happy to have a home at Spinefarm.
5) How did writing “Lanterns” help
you progress through such personal trauma?
Just the ability to get things off my chest through
song has always been helpful for me.
6) What are you hoping the listener
takes away from “Lanterns”?
I hope that if it brings positive vibes through
whatever you’re going through, as it's what it is for me.
7) Do you ever feel the pressure
when writing an album, to match and try to gain the success that “A Snow Capped
Romance” had?
Never
8) What is it about the song “Better
To Burn” that you decided would be the debut music video for the new album?
Just a collective agreement to let it be the first
video, catchy lil number, other than that I don't think it was anything to
serious of a decision.
9) You guys are on tour with Last Ten Seconds
Of Life, How is the tour going? How are the fans responding to the new music?
Tour is great, love the Ten Seconds boys and the
fans are killing it for us every night.
10) How
do you feel the metal scene has evolved since you first joined 23 years ago?
Bands are younger each year and the skill level is
just getting better, it's an exciting time to be alive.
11) Being in bars/venues all the time, you are
around beer a lot, but what made you passionate about beer?
Beer
rules
